Larry and Carol Solomon have been collecting French and English country antiques and vacationing in the Berkshires for more than twenty-five years. In the summer of 2001, they decided to turn their passion into a profession and opened Painted Porch antiques in Sheffield, Massachusetts.

Larry worked in the women's sleepwear industry in New York for the last forty years before starting Painted Porch. (Spend more than fifteen minutes in the store, he'll tell you the whole story.) Carol received an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University and has an M.S.W. from Adelphi University. In 1989, she founded the New York Nanny Center, a highly successful nanny placement agency based in Manhattan. They divide their time between New York City and Sheffield, and have four grown children, and five grandchildren who are frequently roaming around Painted Porch and will be happy to assist you if Nana and Papa are busy.
